TEXAS HOLD'EM

Texas Hold’em is played with 52 cards. Minimum 2 and maximum 10 players can play at a table at one time. Texas Hold’em is played with two “Blinds” (mandatory bets). Both players sitting clockwise to the left of the dealer button must place their blinds before the game can begin.
Basically, when it’s their turn, the first player places the small blind and the second doubles it. The object of the game is, using both “hole” cards and the five community cards, to make the best combination out of five cards and to measure the strength of their own cards against the others.

Game Course

At the beginning, each player receives two cards face down, so-called “Hole Cards”. As soon as all cards have been distributed, the player after the player who placed the Big Blind begins with his action. He has three possibilities:

As soon as all players have bet the same amount in chips, the “Flop” is dealt.

The "Flop"

These are the three community cards which are placed face up in the middle of the table. A betting round follows. This time the first player after the dealer button begins the action.

As soon as all players have bet the same amount in chips, the “Turn” is dealt.

The "Turn"

Another open community card, also called the “Turn“ or „Fourth Street“, is placed face up in the middle of the table. Another betting round follows, starting again with the first player after the dealer button.

As soon as all players have bet the same number of chips, the “River” is dealt.

The "River"

One final open community card, also called „River“ or „Fifth Street“, is dealt face up next to the other community cards. A final betting round follows, starting again with the first player after the dealer button.

"Showdown"

As soon as all players have bet the same number of chips, “Showdown” is called. The player with the best combination of five cards wins the money in the pot.

If a player forces all other opponents to give up (pass) by betting alone, this player wins the pot without having to show his cards.

OMAHA HIGH

Omaha is played with 52 cards. At least two and maximum ten players can take part in a game. Omaha is played like Texas Hold’em. The only difference is that one begins with four hole cards. What is in the beginning rather confusing is actually a very important detail in this game; namely, that players must use only two of their four hole cards when building a hand with three of the cards on the Board. Since one is holding twice as many cards as in Texas Hold’em, there are many more possibilities as in Texas Hold’em. They say that, in this game, you can start with everything and end up with nothing.

The betting structure is the same as in Texas Hold’em. Pot Limit is the favorite type of Omaha game.

OMAHA HIGH-LOW

Omaha High-Low, also known as “Omaha eight or better“, is played like Omaha with the only difference that, at the end, the pot is split between the best and worst hands.

SEVEN CARD STUD

Seven Card Stud is played with 52 cards. At least two and maximum eight players may take part. This game differs from the “Board games“ described above in that there are no community cards. Instead, each player gets his own seven cards. This requires a higher level of concentration from the player.

Before each game, a so-called “Ante“ must be placed before one can receive his cards. (There are no “Blinds“). Each player receives two cards face down and one open card (”Door Card“). The player with the lowest open card must open the game with at least a “forced bet”. A “Forced Bet” is a bet which is lower than the limit minimum which must be placed to open the game. Starting with the second betting round, the player with the highest open hand begins the betting.
The additional open cards are dealt, plus one more card face down, each card followed by a betting round. Player bets are bound to a fixed limit, whereby during the first two betting rounds the lower limit is played, and all following games require the betting of the higher limit.

The best hand made up of five cards wins the pot.

FIVE CARD STUD

Five Card Stud is played in much the same way as Seven Card Stud, with the basic difference that players receive a total of five cards and not seven. At the start, each player receives two cards, one face down and one open. The player with the highest cards opens the game. Each player still in the game ends up with five cards in front of him, one face down and four open.

The player with the best combination of five cards wins the pot.
